The United Swallow Club Annual Meet was again held in So. Calif. for 2011. This time the meet was held in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary for the Los Angeles Pigeon Club (LAPC). At the Pageant of Pigeons held in a new location: The Riverside, California Convention Center.
It was a beautiful show hall but a little bit too small. As a result of the small show hall the Swallows and Color Pigeons were exhibited in triple decked cages. It was not the best situation. We had a good show anyway.
The show was attended by many people. The most important person for the Swallow Club was our judge, Hans Schipper, from Holland. Hans did a excellent job in judging all the Swallows plus the other color pigeons including the Archangels. On behalf of all the U.S.A. pigeon breeders I want to say a very big "Thank You" to Hans!
We must mention other important Swallow Pigeon people from Europe: Werner Zahn of Germany did a masterful job of teaching us how to trim our birds. We were very suprised and delighted to have Cor and Paul Van der Post of Holland come with their families. Cor and Paul are oustanding breeders of many types of Swallows. Again, Thomas Hellmann of Germany came and took photos for the LAPC.
We must mention a few of the out of state members of the Swallow Club who attended the show: Jesse Espinosa of Florida, Perry Mueller of St. Louis, Nate Wayne of Minneapolis, Frank Bailey of Washington, Dave Holloway of Oregon, Gary Romig and Jess Bivins of Arizona. And, I should mention Tom Moss of Northern California who took most of the wonderful pictures you see here. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see all of the pictures.
Most importantly we must say "Thanks" to Leon Stephens, Bill Griebel, Mike Cobb and Steve Ball for doing all the work that the local guys do to make the show a success. Especially, "Thanks" to Bill Griebel and Connie for hosting a wonderful party after the show.
