January 8 & 9, 2011Zwönitz,Saxony, Germany
This was my second trip to Germany. But, it was my first trip that was devoted entirely to visiting a pigeon show and pigeon breeders. I would like to thank my friends and traveling companions; Bill Griebel, Leon Stephens and Steve Ball for organizing the trip. And, I would like to apologize to everyone for missing the main flight we were supposed to all travel together on. I know that mistake caused a lot of concern to my friends and my wife, Ingrid. The Airline got me another flight 4 hours later. But, I had to travel alone and with little information about my destination, Zwönitz, Saxony.
After a long flight, with several changes and frustrations because I could not get internet service very well, I landed in Dresden. There was no other choice but to hire a taxi. The driver got me to Zwönitz in a little more than an hour. Luckily, the Hotel Stadt Zwönitz, the only place I could tell the taxi driver to go to, had a room available and WiFi internet. I was finally back in communication with Ingrid and my buddies already in Zwönitz. For those who don't know, Zwönitz is the Mecca for Saxon color pigeons, the type of pigeons I have had most of my life. Gary Romig
